The Giver, by Lois Lowry, has a special place in my heart as the first post-now book on humanity I read. Years later, the world has caught up and brought us The Hunger Games, which I also devoured. Seriously, I read the first book in 2 hours (I'm a speed reader). Are you loving this new-ish breakthrough genre? I hate to say new as though 1984 didn't exist, but you have to admit the popularity is definitely new! If so, check out this great link to similar books!
Of those on the list, I've read (or started) The Giver, Divergent, Matched, and Across the Universe. Other than The Giver, which I'm partial to, none are as amazing as The Hunger Games, but each in their own way are good.
